About DDTC

Dauphin Dog Training Club, Inc. (DDTC) is a not-for-profit American Kennel Club affiliated Obedience club, founded in 1956 by a small group of dog enthusiasts who wanted to meet with other dog owners to train dogs and promote goodwill among all dog lovers. We strive to train owners to train their dogs.

About Our Facility

Our training facility is located in East Hanover Township, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Situated on five fenced acres, the 70' x 120' building is fully matted with comfort mats, heated, air-conditioned, and handicapped accessible. There is plenty of parking and exercise space for dogs. Due to local zoning regulations, we do not rent our facility to other organizations.

What We Do

We offer training classes in Obedience, Agility, and Rally for puppies through advanced and competition. We also offer Scent Work and Conformation Handling classes. Our training program is designed for dogs and people of all ages and abilities. Both purebred and mixed breed dogs are welcome to attend our classes.

We are proud to state that all classes are taught by Club members who have successfully trained their own dogs and are some of the best trainers in the area. Some of our instructors have achieved awards and titles at the national and international levels. You may even see some of them judging in various venues around the country. They are all devoted dog lovers, interested in learning all they can about their favorite subjects: dogs and teaching owners the skills they need to train their own dogs.

Each year, our Club hosts various AKC Companion and Performance titling events. We currently host several on- and off-site AKC Agility, Obedience, Rally, and Tracking trials. Our Companion events include AKC Scent trials. New for 2021, we held several Fast CAT trials on Club grounds. We hold run-thrus in Agility, Obedience, and Rally, as well as many informative seminars instructed by some of the top trainers and competitors in the U.S.

Volunteers

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our Club. Since we are an "all volunteer" organization, we are always looking for members to help during Club activities, such as AKC Agility and Obedience trials. Most of the positions do not require any experience -- we are happy to provide training! And for those members who volunteer, you can earn Dauphin Rewards that can be redeemed for classes, open training time, run thrus at our show & go’s and more. There are always plenty of ways to help!

Contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Lori Sarago (blackkat72@comcast.net or 717-514-8238) for more information.

Rescue Dogs

We offer a discount to owners who adopt dogs from an animal shelter or rescue. If you adopt a new canine family member and plan to take a class with us within the 6 months following the adoption, you can receive a one-time $10 discount off the first-class fee. Proof of adoption must be presented when you register for the class.
